Acting Labor Secretary Responds to September Jobs Report

Hospitality employment numbers draw an upbeat statement.

Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su expressed optimism over the latest employment report released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The bureau found that unemployment remained at a steady 3.8 percent while the economy added 336,000 jobs in the last month. Most notably, restaurants and bars gained 61,000 jobs in September, adding enough workers to finally fill the sector’s employment gap caused during the pandemic.

“This month’s jobs report was more good news for workers showing job and wage increases as well as broad growth across industries,” Acting Secretary Su stated. “This is a strong and stable jobs report showing a robust labor market that continues to provide employment opportunities for workers all over the country.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For discernment for Acting Secretary Su as she heads the Labor Department.
  • For Acting Commissioner William Wiatrowski as he oversees the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
